The history of the confectionary concern "Babaev" began 16 August 1804. In 1873 the company was among the largest producers of confectionery products, the first to use steam installations in Russia. The factory employed more than 120 people who made the candy, jam, cakes and other pastries. After 1917 the factory was nationalized and was named "National confectionary factory". In 1930s the factory became the largest manufacturer of caramel, toffee and fruit drops in Soviet Union. In 1970s the factory was reconstructed and became one of the best in the USSR.
High quality confectionery is confirmed by numerous prizes and awards at exhibitions and competitions. Most recent in 1997, then in 2000 the company was awarded the title "Best Company of Russia" in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce. In 1997, the Geneva group has won the "Gold Cup" for high product quality, and in 1998 the company became the winner in the competition "100 best goods of Russia". In 1999, 2000 and 2001 the company received the gold medal at the exhibition «World Food», «Prodexpo" and others. In late 2003 "Babaev Confectionery Concern" was awarded the highest award "Russian National Olympus".

Delicious Russian chocolate
27 September 2017I found this at my local international foods store. I love it! I am also delighted to share that it contains no milk. I shared the label with a Russian friend to review and she confirmed - no milk. It is dairy-free and delicious, all dark chocolate and hazelnuts. Even though it has no milk, no eggs, and no other animal products, it isn't missing anything!
